Benefits of The Bonneting Method

Find out what bonneting is and how it makes for a better carpet cleaning. Learn how it cleans deeper and dries your carpets faster.

When it comes to keeping your carpets clean and healthy, at Signature Carpet Cleaning, we don’t mess around. That's why we've perfected our double-clean process. First, we clean your carpets with the hot solution extraction method, and then we finish off with bonneting. This article will cover what bonneting is and why it makes for a better carpet cleaning.

What is Bonneting?

A bonneting machine takes a large, soft, white pad and gently rotates it over your carpets. It looks similar to a commercial floor polishing machine. They are a little smaller, lighter, and gentler than floor polishers. Among other benefits, bonneting provides a deeper clean and helps your carpets dry faster.

What are the Benefits?

Deeper Cleaning

The pad on the bonneting machine works deep into the fibres of the carpet to clean up any dirt and allergens. Using hot solution extraction in combination with bonneting means every inch of your carpet gets cleaned thoroughly, twice, delivering a deeper and healthier cleaning.

Hair Removal

Hair from the people and pets in your home falls onto your carpet regularly. As people walk over that hair, it becomes woven into the carpet so tightly that even a good vacuum won’t remove it. Bonneting is a highly effective way to remove hair that has been woven into the carpet fibres. Its gentle but powerful motion can pull those hairs out of your carpet.

Faster Drying Time

The pads on the bonneting machine are amazing at sucking moisture out of a freshly cleaned carpet. This drastically speeds up the drying time after a professional carpet cleaning. The last step after bonneting a carpet is to rake it. Raking after bonneting fluffs the carpet up and removes any excess hair that was pulled out. This gives a nice finished look and sets your carpet up to dry quickly.

Works with our Cleaning Solution

Our bonneting technique is specifically designed to work with our cleaning solution to leave your carpets looking and feeling brand new. With our hot solution extraction, we manage to remove 90% of the dirt and debris from your carpet, but some of the now dirty cleaning solution is left on top of the carpet. Left alone, that solution will evaporate, and the dirt and grime will stay on your carpet. The bonneting machine, with its soft pad and powerful drying action, will remove that dirty solution so the dirt won't be left behind.

Not Right for Every Situation

There are some circumstances where we don’t recommend using the bonneting machine. Bonneting isn’t a good fit for some very old carpets or anything that has pre-existing damage. If your carpet has a large tear, is delaminating, or is not sitting on a proper underlay, bonneting could do more harm than good.

Bonneting is a key part of our professional carpet cleaning process at Signature Carpet Cleaning. It helps remove deep-down dirt and hair, speeds up drying time, and works perfectly with our cleaning solution. While it’s not right for every type of carpet, when used with our hot solution extraction, it gives a thorough and efficient clean. Enjoy the luxury of carpets that look and feel brand new. If you're in the St. Albert area, we would love to clean for you and show you how effective bonneting can be.
